I must need to get out more!
I haven't heard of one single group or song that you listed here.

Am I living in a cave????

You're probably safe. Eric Idle is one of the guys from Monty Python. Bad Religion is a fairly popular punk act, although probably past its prime. Dar Williams is a folk artist and Over the Rhine's most recent disc was recently nominated for a Grammy, I believe. Most of the rest you understandably haven't heard of, although they're all really good, so now you have no excuses. :)
