Hallelujah

All my favourite artists seem to be covering Leonard Cohen lately. That's Over the Rhine above, covering "Hallelujah." And then David Bazan has been covering the same song, as well as Bob Dylan's "The Man in Me."

Click over here for a recent Bazan show from Virginia. You'll get both those songs, as well as some stuff he doesn't sing live as often anymore. Plus snappy banter about Jesus, fabric softener, freemasons and speaking Chinese. What the hell else do you need from a Thursday? Even better, Bazan is touring the next couple of months, first with Will Johnson of Centro-matic, then with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service.

jasdye,

You're welcome.

dan,

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Cohen. Supposedly it was first recorded on his 1984 album Various Positions.

Hey there, found you on a link from Jeff's blog where he mentioned this song and post. After watching the video, I realized that I knew this song. The first time I heard it was on a Kevin Max CD (one of the guys from DC Talk). I was moved by it - tremendous song and this guy sings with an angelic falsetto. It's on his CD Between The Fence & Universe.
